The Maize Police Department is seeking a motivated community-oriented individual who has strong work ethics, morals and the desire to serve and help others to fill the position of Police Officer.

TYPE: Full Time

SALARY: Non-Certified: $20.00 to $21.54 /hr - Certified: $22.91 to $32.37 /hr based on experience and qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Employment is contingent on successful completion of an initial interview, oral board interview, polygraph exam, extensive background investigation, physical, drug and alcohol screen, and psychological testing. Certified applicants must have a current CPOST certification or a certification from another state with reciprocity with KSCPOST standards.


Maize Police Shoulder Patch and BadgeThe Maize Police Department provides 24 hour police protection and services 365 days a year to our citizens, businesses, schools and visitors.  The department has an authorized staff of thirteen full-time officers including the Police Chief and two part-time officers.  Officers of the Maize Police Department are charged with enforcing the city ordinances of Maize as well as state and federal laws and working in partnership with the residents of Maize to address community concerns and problems.  Officers also provide "first responder" support to the Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office when requested and provide secondary support to other nearby law enforcement agencies as needed.

Vacation Watch

Going on vacation or leaving town for a few days?  The Maize Police Department will conduct extra patrols of your home while you're gone.  Submit your Vacation / Extra Watch Request before you leave town.

Fingerprint  Fingerprinting

The Maize Police Department provides employment fingerprinting every Wednesday from 2:30-3:30pm.

  • Fingerprinting services fees:
    • Non-resident - $25.00
    • Resident - No charge
    • USD 266 Applicant - No charge
    • 2 card maximum - $5.00 per additional card

Patch Requests

On recommendations from the Department of Homeland Security and a recent upward trend of persons impersonating police and other public safety personnel, the Maize Police Department does not trade, sell, or otherwise distribute our shoulder patch or department insignias to collectors.
